Wendy’s Writerly World

It all began with a love for France & French wine…

After a lifetime spent roaming the French wine regions, teaching about wine and running wine tours, it seemed only natural that wine should find its way into my writing.

And so far that's what's happended. France, wine, stories and the places we fall in love with… these are the threads that run through my writing, and I hope you’ll enjoy following them.

My Writing

My first published book, The Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon, grew out of a lifelong love affair with French wine. Beautifully illustrated and written in a simple, straightforward style, the book offers an engaging introduction to the wines of this fascinating region in southern France.

In my debut novel, The French Bed, I combined my love of France and wine with a good splash of mystery and romance and the coming sequel The French Couturier follows in a similar vein.

So far, all my books have been set in France, and with more novels in the pipeline, you can be sure France - and wine - will continue to play a part. There is, however, another place that has begun to weave its way into my stories. In The French Bed, my protagonist Lizzy lives in a pretty Cotswolds cottage. Perhaps writing about it cast a little magic, because I now live in that beautiful part of England. I's an inspiring place for a writer, and I have a feeling the Cotswolds will play a much bigger role in future stories.

Short Stories As well as novels I write short stories which are all FREE to read in Wendy’s Book Depository plus bonus stories are sent out to Subscribers.

Substack In The Franco-Files, you will find My Life in Languedoc – a memoir in chapters. Languedoc will always hold a very special place in my heart but with the memoir finished I will now be writing about other parts of France - short love letters about the country that captured my heart many years ago.

Book Tastings

If you like to read and also enjoy a glass of good wine you will love my entertaining Wine & Book tastings. They are a fun way to taste and learn more about Languedoc and it's wines and hear extracts from my books The Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon and The French Bed. Find out more…
