Wendy’s Writerly World

Set betwixt the land of my birth and the land of my dreams; England & France.

For many years I lived in France where, with my small business I ran vineyard Tours in the wild and wonderful Languedoc region. Slowly the call to return to England grew louder but the thought of leaving my beloved France was unbearable which is why I now live with a foot firmly planted in each country.

Through my books, novels, short stories and Substack posts I will take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of England and France always with a slurp of wine along the way.

About Wendy

It all began with a love for French wine...

The Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon was my first published book. It's a beautifully illustrated book that explains the wines of the region in a simple straightforward way and offers a deeply engaging way to learn more about the wines of this part of southern France. With my deep knowledge of wine gained from a lifetime roaming the French wine regions, teaching the subject and running wine tours it seemed natural to include it in my debut novel The French Bed along with a good splash of mystery and romance..!

So far, my books have been set in France and with more novels in the pipeline you can be sure France and wine will play a part. In The French Bed  my protagonist Lizzy lives in a pretty Cotswolds cottage. Perhaps just writing that cast a bit of magic as I too now live in this beautiful part of England. It’s an inspiring place for a writer to live and I’m pretty sure the Cotswolds will play a bigger role in future stories.

I also write two publications on Substack. In The Franco-Files I have serialised a memoir of my life in Languedoc where I write about what it was like to run a wine tour business and what I loved the most about the region. My other Substack simply called Wendy Gedney is where I write short stories and musings on life.

Book Tastings

If you like to read and also enjoy a glass of good wine you will love my entertaining Wine & Book tastings. They are a fun way to taste and learn more about Languedoc and it's wines and hear extracts from my books The Wines of the Languedoc-Roussillon and The French Bed. Find out more…
